The power of simplicity
Here is a simple reality – The more complex any model, system or process, the less likely it is to become a reality and work towards it’s intended outcome. Complexity KILLS impact.
The pursuit of simplicity allows a deeper focus on critical issues.
The discipline of “thoughtful reduction” is the key thinking tool to allow simplicity to become a strategic tool. It’s not about aimlessly removing items from a project, instead it’s about THINKING of focus and driving that focus towards what’s important.
More is not better and better is not BEST. The Simple Path is about a BEST focus.
Simple does not mean without problems. Any project, no matter how simple, is subject to systemic laws – things go wrong. Remember that the epic moon mission of Apollo 11 was only on their predetermined and well planned course to the moon 2.5% of the time. They never took their eye off the single simple goal, get to and from the moon, but they had to be in constant correction mode to meet that objective.
- The Power of 3 – Thoughtful reduction begins with a goal of any project, system or process not exceeding 3 parts.
- Seeing is Everything – Creating a visual journey towards your goal will allow you to connect to the process.
- Start with Where You Are – All simplicity movements begin in “current reality”. You can only get to where you want to go if you know where you are.
