Hey everyone, here we go. . . . . .
IN OUR WORLD
What a week! It started with a trip to Grand Rapids, MI with a side trip to Kalamazoo, then a quick stop in Dallas for a day long project that started at 6:30 AM and ended close to 9:00 PM followed by a Thursday trip to Minneapolis where I am writing today’s blog! WOW,
Though the schedule is challenging the work is always worth it. These are exciting projects that combine all three of my business lines – Presentations, Education and the Application of ideas.
Next week it’s back to Minneapolis for a couple of days to launch the Repeatable Successful Acts to a new audience.

THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
It’s no surprise we live in an ever expanding and connected world the speed of which is almost at the very edge of our understanding. This connected nature creates unique opportunities that never cease to amaze me in the ways and methods companies are finding to leverage it.
Think about the extended reach of your brand. Here is just one thing to think about:
- The 500 million Facebook users share 30 billion pieces of content per month.
- The average Facebook member has a minimum of 130 friends.
Just think of the impact of a client experience, both good and bad when shared within a network of the range.
Clients are more and more driven to share their customer experience and companies are aware of the impact that can have. It pays to track what’s being said about you, but it even pays more to aggressively take the kind of action that will generate positive buzz.
Dutch airline KLM has a program called HOW HAPPINESS SPREADS. It combines customer care with the location based internet/mobile device game Foursquare. When a person checks in at a Foursquare / KLM location, a Surprise Team hits the internet and finds some background on the person and decides on a suitable gift. They meet the passenger at the gate make the gift presentation. They film it all and boom it becomes viral.
How about the tasty little cracker Wheat Thins (luv um). They track Twitter feeds that mention their cracker. Then out goes the Crunch Cracker van to find the chosen Twitter and give them a year’s supply of the cracker. They too film it and boom it goes viral.
These are great examples of companies making a positive push towards getting their brands connected and spread throughout the internet.
Something to think about as you move your brands forward.

SOUTH OF NORMAL
Fargo ND has been in the news lately. First Ben Bernake loves the place as much as the Coen Brothers. It has had unparalleled economic growth during the recession thanks to North Dakota’s construction and oil industries. Heck, Men’s Health magazine named Fargo the 2nd healthiest city in America.
Some North Dakota tid-bits:
- Nickname – The Peace Garden State
- Song – Kumbaya (I kid you not).
