The universe is a big place. On a clear night you may be able to see over 2,500 stars in the sky and that would be LESS than 100 millionth of the stars in the galaxy. Do you see what I mean – BIG!
When we release an idea into the vastness of the universe it develops an identity. The idea can take a wide variety of forms. It can be art, design, technology, sales or even this blog entry. No matter what shape the idea takes, it becomes subject to laws of opinion.
We launch a lot of ideas, in fact, it’s kind of the business we are in. Some of our ideas gain incredible traction, such as our sales platform Repeatable Successful Acts, where over 100 c0mpanies use the ideas in their sales activities, but some of our ideas, ideas we felt were strong and hit the goal of the client, get shut down. They choose a different idea, even though we were SURE we had all the right pieces in place. Despite what anyone says, when this happens it hurts. PERIOD. The disappointment is real, its tangible and it gives you pause. You begin to think that your ability to create the right idea is somewhat flawed, that you have lost your “idea mojo.”
Remember, the universe is a big place, a place of abundance and there is a ton of room for ideas. The average grocery store has over 40,000 branded items and many may have over 100 different types of water! Each brand is a form of idea. There’s lots of room for ideas. If yours doesn’t match your goal or the goal of your client, it simply means it was not the right idea in the right place. That’s it. The quality of the idea, the process you use to develop ideas may not be flawed, it may just be that your idea does not have the specific traction it needed.
The great writer Isaac Asimov said; “When you learn something, in success for failure, you feel a little more at home in the universe.”
Keep tapping into that uniquely human quality of idea development and launch them into the universe. The universe is just looking for the right match and without ideas, connections never happen!
